Celebrating the Grand Opening of Lai Wan Market
Uni-China Group is pleased to announce the successful grand opening of Lai Wan Market, a collaborative project with HKSAR Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD), held on 1 March.
We had the honour of welcoming distinguished guests at the inauguration, including Mr Tse Chin Wan, BBS, JP, Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Legislative Council members including Hon Yang Wing Kit, Hon Leung Man Kwong, MH, Hon Vincent Cheng Wing Shun, MH, JP, Ms Vivian Lau, JP, Permanent Secretary for Environment and Ecology (Food), Ms. Irene Young Bick Kwan, JP, Director of Food and Environment Hygiene, Mr Michael Li Kiu Yin, JP, Director of Architectural Services, and Mr Paul Wong Yan Yin, JP, District Officer (Sham Shui Po). Their presence highlighted the collaborative dedication to fostering vibrant community marketplaces. The residents of Meifoo and our stakeholders were also invited to witness the transformation at Lai Wan Market.
Our redesign of Lai Wan Market incorporates simplicity and modernity, characterized by a vibrant colour scheme that revitalises the space. We have made comprehensive improvements including a reconfigured market layout, enhanced stall designs, widened passageways, and upgraded drainage and ventilation systems. The market now also features a range of new facilities such as public seating, a carcass storage room, recycling facilities, and barrier-free access, ensuring it is welcoming and accessible to all visitors.
This event represents our second collaboration with FEHD in revitalising community markets, emphasising our ongoing commitment to enhancing urban life and supporting sustainable community development.
